Radial Tires by Mykalanne Gutierrez Radial Tires are also known as
Steel-Belted Tires or Radial-Ply Tires; but lets start out with the history of
Radial Tires, shall we?
Radial Tires were launched by Michelin in 1946,
but were first designed in 1915 by Arthur W. Savage; who was a very fortunate
tire producer & creator in San Diego, CA. A lot of people think that Radial
Tires are only meant for Passenger Cars; but the truth is, they can be used for
Passenger Cars and regular Non-Passenger Vehicles. Since it has become so
successful since it first came out, Radial Tires are now the standard tires for
mostly all models that you see on the street today.
The way a Radial
Tire is manufactured is by having polyester cords that are ran vertically from
bead to bead, rather than placing diagonal nylon plies that run across the
centerline. If you were to reanalyze it, I guess you can say that its
wrapped in the same way the tread of the tire is facing. The cords make up the
inside of the tire & the crown belts are placed on top & laid
perpendicular to the actual radial plies. Some of these belts are made out of
steel; hence, the name Steel-Belted Tires emerges.
Since the Radial
Tire is manufactured this post by haiyan701 way, it leads it to be
Puncture-Resistant, gives the vehicle a smoother ride, & is also quieter
than your average tire. Its odd because the radial plies placed in the tire
allows it to be flexible, but the tread stays the same when youre driving on a
flat surface. I guess youd say thats the magic of technology, wouldnt you
agree? This type of construction gives the radials better handling &
traction when youre on the road; not to mention it gives your tires a longer
life to live & be apart of your lovely vehicle. The radial construction of
the tire permits the heat to dissolve quickly, which means these tires run
cooler & are less likely to blow out on you while youre speeding on the
freeway.
It really doesnt matter what size you want because Radial
Tires just so happen to come in a huge range of sizes, they even come standard
on most Earth-Moving Vehicles. Every time you catch a glimpse on one of these Charlotte Olympia Kitty Flats
Radial Tires, youll notice they have a letter P. The reason for this is
because a P metric sizing system is the system used on mostly all passenger
car tires. The front of the tire usually has a series of letters & numbers
that gives us information about the tire. For example, lets say your tire has
P215/65R/15; the 215 is the width, the 65 is the profile, & the 15 is
the diameter.
Radial Tires are not only for Passenger Cars, but also for
farm vehicles, vehicles that go off-roading, & even your average airplane!
